Polyoxymethylene (POM)

POM is used as an engineering plastic, especially for precision parts, due to its high rigidity, low coefficients of friction, excellent dimensional stability and thermal stability. The inherent color of POM is opaque white, but the material can be dyed in all colors.

Properties of POM

  • High strength,
  • High hardness
  • High rigidity
  • High abrasion resistance
  • Low coefficients of friction
  • High heat resistance
  • Low water absorption

Areas of application for POM

Gear wheels, sliding and guide elements, housing parts, spring elements, chains, screws, nuts, pump parts, valve bodies, insulators, coil bodies, connectors, joint shells, model trains, bogies, handle bars, locks, handles, hinges, curtain rollers, aerosol cans, vehicle tanks, gas ampoules, zippers.
